Surjit Singh Kalra's last 5 years were spent coming to terms with and overcoming the challenges of speech loss through finding alternative ways of communicating and gaining mobility. Much of this was done through the family's efforts to proactively seek out advice and therapies. More research is clearly needed in this area.
